REFER. 3D reconstruction. (TS 1224kb)

REFER is an application that automatically reconstructs a large variety of polyhedral, polytopes and wire-frame objects from single-view sketched drawings generated in a calligraphic interface, where the designer can see the sketch, the derived line-drawing or both. Optimization-based reconstruction is used to transform 2D line drawings into 3D models. In the example, face planarity, symmetry and line parallelism are the three regularities used to reconstruct.

REFER. 2D reconstruction. (TS 204kb)

REFER is an application that automatically reconstructs a large variety of polyhedral, polytopes and wire-frame objects from single-view sketched drawings generated in a calligraphic interface, where the designer can see the sketch, the derived line-drawing or both. Before proceeding to the optimization-based reconstruction, an optimization-based 2D reconstruction stage converts rough sketches into neatened line drawings.

CIGRO. (TS 24048kb)

CIGRO‎, which stands for Calligraphic Interface for Geometric Reconstruction, allows for an interactive reconstruction of polyhedral objects from freehand sketches to yield three-dimensional models. CIGRO integrates a simple gesture analyzer, a line-drawing beautifier and an axonometric inflation engine. One key characteristic of this application is its minimalist interface based on only three gestures.

ParSketch. (TS 306kb)

This application provides a sketching interface to define of 2D parametric profiles. It uses a commercial 2D parametric engine (UGS D-Cubed 2DCM). ParSketch interprets strokes which can be recognized as geometry (line, arc, circle, ellipse, or composed entities that are automatically segmented into those basic entities), or graphic gestures representing constraints (dimension, parallel, perpendicular, tangent, concentric, horizontal or vertical). Furthermore, drawing entities can be removed using a scratching gesture. This not only allows errors to be corrected, but also enables more complex shapes to be drawn incrementally, by refining simpler forms.
